What if Our Story Began Before Our Birth?

The human body is a complex set of systems we are only beginning to understand. According to Neuroscientists we only use 5% of our conscious brains, and the rest of the 95% is our subconscious. The subconscious being our unaware thoughts. However, it does influence our actions, emotions and feelings.

This has always made me curious of my own original thoughts and fears. The simple answer is to look to our direct family of origin and what they taught us. But, could we take this a step further and think of our subconscious as apart of an invisible family line that influences our behavior in the present? Is it possible that behaviors over time could lead to illness? Or even a belief that could manifest itself as chronic diseases? We can even look back through a family system and see mental health challenges show up in similar ways.

If we are operating mostly in the subconscious, our stored emotions, traumas and pain could be carried from of our Ancestors. Epigenetics has confirmed through research that the expression of our DNA can be changed without changing the structure of our DNA. This has been something that healers connected to the ancient ways have known since the beginning of time. Through shifting the energy of a person through beliefs, movement, healthy lifestyle and ritual and the mystical you have the ability to transform at a cellular level. The very cells that live inside of each of us contain our heritage. If our Ancestors had trauma they couldn’t process in their lifetime it becomes carried trauma and it is living material in our bodies. Waking up to this complex, yet simple idea gives us an opening to the work. We begin to heal ourselves, our Ancestors and future generations.

For me, I saw patterns growing up I knew I didn’t want to repeat. I didn’t know why or how I just knew there was another way.

Some very simple tools we can begin with is bringing more awareness to our thoughts. Adding a little mindfulness without judgement can lay a strong foundation to open to the awareness that our stories began long before we were born. It can also offer us grace. That the stories in our minds, the challenges we face, the patterns that seem to overtake aren’t ours, so we can just breathe and let that moment pass. When we can look back and see the humanness in every person that came before, we can walk this path with humility, grace and honor. It is a true gift to be the one to stop the patterns and pave a new direction for an entire family line.

Here is a little Heartfelt Medicine to move through discomfort as you embark on this path…

Ritual: Light a candle and honor all of those who came before you. Honor their stories and what they couldn’t face in their lifetime. Thank them.

I feel deeply grateful to be able to walk this path with you. I would love to hear from you and how you have incorporated healing in your life.
